Don’t worry, she doesn’t like talking to the manager! As our copywriter and content writer, Karen enjoys nothing more than working behind the scenes and seeing the entire picture whilst among the crowd. Although she can be such an elusive type, she doesn’t shy away in writing copy that compels, and gets you to take action. She did a complete turn a couple of years back, from working in hospitality to being a writer now. Hotels may have been fancy, but it was never her cup of tea. So she took a huge leap to learn creative writing, and the rest is history.
Why marketing? Being marketing was something that opened up to me unexpectedly when I started to work as a freelancer. I started doing freelance admin work but then I was given the chance to work with digital marketing agencies so it kind of grew there.
What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working? Painting murals! I feel so alive when I do that.
Who is someone you admire, and why? If it were living people, I'd say it's my husband. There are many times in his life when he was shown unkindness and injustice, but he's still the same kind person I met from 11 years ago. Another person I admire is Leni Robredo. She reminds me so much of my own mom, she's compassionate, an amazing leader, classy and intelligent.
What do you want to make sure you do before you die? See snow. I love the weather where I am right now, but I've always wondered what it's like in places with snow.
